Campbeltown Loch combines the five single malts of Campbeltown’s three active distilleries: Springbank, Hazelburn, Longrow, Kilkerran and Glen Scotia. Rather than expressing the style of a single distillery, this blended malt brings together the different malts of the coastal town.

The component whiskies mature in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks before they are blended at Springbank and bottled at 46%. Buttery and salty notes lead to creamy coffee, salted caramel, and the dark sweetness of date syrup and brown sugar. Subtle peat smoke becomes more pronounced in the finish, where a leather note also develops.

This 0.7-litre whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. Its characteristics developed during production are therefore retained without either intervention.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Butter shapes the first impression, accompanied by a hint of sea salt. Ginger cake and pecan pie add spicy, nutty pastry notes.
• Palate: Creamy coffee and salted caramel mingle with date syrup and crystallised brown sugar. A subtle hint of peat smoke joins them.
• Finish: The peat smoke grows more pronounced in the finish, while a leather note develops over time.

Distillery/Bottler:

Campbeltown’s three active distilleries produce the five malt components; Springbank Distillers Ltd. blends and bottles the whisky in Campbeltown. Springbank distillery was founded in 1828 on the site of a still previously operated illicitly by Archibald Mitchell. At the time, it was the town’s fourteenth licensed distillery.

Springbank malts its barley on its own malting floors and carries out every subsequent step through bottling at the same site. Fermentation takes place in wooden washbacks, and three copper stills are used for distillation.
