Bourbon cask maturation shapes this Glen Scotia: the single malt matures in first-fill bourbon casks and previously used American oak casks. A very short finish in Oloroso casks complements this maturation. The distillery uses unpeated malt for this 15-year-old bottling.

Alongside its fruity character, the whisky reveals toffee, subtle salinity and hints of vanilla and orange blossom. It is bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, citrus peel combines with ginger biscuits and the aroma of baked fruit.
• Palate: The palate unfolds with rich fruitiness, featuring apricots and fruit salad. Caramelised sugar and oak complement the flavour, which ends on a surprisingly dry note.
• Finish: The finish is warm and spicy, with honey-like softness, oak notes and a dry impression.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Scotia is in Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula on Scotland’s west coast. The distillery was founded in 1832 as Scotia Distillery. By 1835, it was one of almost 30 distilleries in the town, whose whisky production earned it a reputation as a whisky capital during the Victorian era. Parts of the historic premises remain in use, including the mash tun, still room and traditional dunnage warehouse.

The distillery buys Scottish malted barley to its own specifications rather than malting it itself. Long fermentation times and slow, carefully controlled distillation are part of its approach. Glen Scotia produces both peated and unpeated whiskies; production of the peated style is usually concentrated into around six weeks each year.
