Special Features:

A twelve-month finish in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks shapes this 18-year-old single malt without obscuring its maritime Campbeltown character. Before that, the whisky spent 17 years in refill bourbon casks and refill American oak hogsheads. The Master Blender selected the casks, married the whisky they contained and then left it to mature further for the finish.

Floral sweetness and honey sit alongside salted caramel, apricot, pineapple and sultanas. Salinity accompanies the ripe fruit, while the long, dry finish brings warming spice to the fore. This single malt is unpeated and bottled at 46%. It is not chill-filtered, contains no added colouring and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Distinct salinity combines with perfumed floral notes, sweet honey and salted caramel.
• Palate: The palate is soft and full-bodied. Sweet, rich toffee accompanies apricot, pineapple and plump sultanas, while gently warming spice remains present throughout.
• Finish: The finish is long and dry, with gently warming spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded as Scotia in 1832, Glen Scotia Distillery is one of Campbeltown’s three remaining distilleries. It gained the addition “Glen” to its name in 1939. After several changes of ownership, the Loch Lomond Distillery Company acquired it in 1996; that company later became the Loch Lomond Group.

Glen Scotia sources Scottish barley malt made to its own specifications rather than malting the barley itself. The distillery uses longer fermentation and slow distillation, and produces both peated and unpeated whiskies. This 18-year-old is an original Glen Scotia bottling.
