Special Features:

Whiskyopolis launches the Campbeltown Saga as Release No. 1 and recalls the era when Campbeltown was known as “Whiskyopolis”. Distilled in 2011, this Glen Scotia matured for 14 years in selected first-fill bourbon barrels before being bottled in 2025 at 50% as a limited official bottling. It has no added colouring and is non-chill-filtered.

For this edition, a moderately peated distillery style meets the sweet aromas of fresh bourbon barrels. Green apple and a hint of grilled pineapple come to the fore, while vanilla cream and brown sugar form the backdrop. Lemon, saline coastal minerality and smoke provide a maritime counterpoint to the fruity profile.

The distillery’s oily house style combines here with peat smoke, coastal notes, salted caramel and sweet oak. The whisky therefore also evokes the historical concept of the Campbeltown Saga through its sensory character.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: On the nose, warm peat smoke and green apple mingle with a hint of grilled pineapple, vanilla cream and brown sugar.
  • Palate: On the palate, smoke and fruit meet vibrant lemon, saline coastal minerality and salted caramel.
  • Finish: The finish is medium-long to long, with smouldering smoke, maritime notes, gentle sweetness and salted caramel fading slowly together.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Scotia Distillery produces the whisky for Whiskyopolis and bottles it as an official distillery release. Founded as Scotia in 1832, the Campbeltown distillery has borne the name Glen Scotia since 1939 and was acquired by the Loch Lomond Distillery Company in 1996. It uses traditional methods, extended fermentation and slow distillation at its site.

Loch Lomond Distillers Ltd includes Glen Scotia in its portfolio as a Campbeltown single malt brand. Glen Scotia produces peated spirit during only a small part of the year. Its traditionally maritime, slightly salty and oily house style provides the foundation for this moderately peated bourbon-cask edition.
