Special Features:

This heavily peated single malt was distilled in 2014 and matured in first-fill bourbon barrel #1963. In 2025, Glen Scotia bottled 225 bottles from the cask at a cask strength of 55.7%. The whisky has its natural colour and is non-chill-filtered.

The bottling is one of three heavily peated single casks in the five-part Behind the Blue Doors Classic Series No. 1. Peter Greve and Stephan Ehmke selected the casks together with Glen Scotia’s Master Distiller, Iain McAlister.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals ripe mango, yellow plum and icing sugar with burnt cinnamon.
• Palate: On the palate, vanilla fudge and cigar tobacco combine with dense smoke and pronounced minerality.
• Finish: The finish is long, warm and sweet, with the smoke remaining present.

Distillery/Bottler:

Cask #1963 is an official Glen Scotia distillery bottling. Founded in Campbeltown in 1832, the distillery has belonged to the Loch Lomond Distillery Company since 1996. Long fermentation and slow distillation are defining elements of its production methods.

Glen Scotia is one of Campbeltown’s three remaining distilleries and devotes only around six weeks each year to producing its peated style.
