Glen Scotia was founded in 1832 as Scotia Distillery in Campbeltown. The town lies on the Kintyre peninsula on Scotland’s west coast and was an important centre of whisky production in the 19th century. The distillery retains substantial parts of its historic facilities, including the mash tun, stillhouse and dunnage warehouse, a traditional warehouse for cask maturation.
Glen Scotia produces both peated and unpeated spirit. Scottish malted barley is purchased to the distillery’s own specifications; longer fermentation and slower distillation are part of its evolving production approach.
