Special Features:

For this XO, Bache-Gabrielsen blends eaux-de-vie from Grande and Petite Champagne, with Grande Champagne accounting for the larger share. The blend is made entirely from Ugni Blanc and matures for at least ten years in Limousin oak casks.

The miniature contains 0.05 litres of Cognac at 40% alcohol. It offers a small format for discovering XO Fine Champagne, which is bottled without added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is distinctly floral, recalling iris. Cinnamon, vanilla and honey are joined by a note of cigar box. Ripe peach and dried fruit enrich the nose, accompanied by a subtle tobacco note.
• Palate: The Cognac is balanced on the palate. Lightly peppery notes are followed by dried fruit and chocolate. The chocolate note recalls dark chocolate. Roasted hazelnut and a pronounced oak structure complement the flavour.
• Finish: The finish is long, with lingering cinnamon and mild spices. Honey and a subtle touch of oak also remain in the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen founded the house in Cognac in 1905. Together with his Norwegian friend Peter Rustad, he took over the existing Maison A. Edmond Dupuy. In 2009, management passed to Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, the fourth generation of the family.

Bache-Gabrielsen operates as a merchant house, carrying out its own maturation and blending. Its eaux-de-vie come exclusively from winegrowers who distil their own spirits. The house selects them, monitors their cask maturation and subsequently blends them. Oak selection and the humidity of the ageing cellars are among the conditions it carefully considers. In 2015, three cellars for storage and blending were built in Louzac-Saint-André near Cognac.
