La Gloire de mon Père comes from the 1990 vintage and recalls the difficult years experienced by the Cognac industry. Extended cask maturation shapes this XO, which was bottled in 2022 at 43%. Winemaking, distillation and maturation all take place on the estate.

Ugni Blanc is the sole grape variety used. The wine is distilled with its lees over a direct flame in a 2,000-litre still dating from 1973. Local spring water is used to reduce the strength. The Cognac contains no added sugar or colouring and is not chill-filtered. The bottle contains 0.35 litres and comes in a gift box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, crème brûlée, salted caramel and Bourbon vanilla mingle with cloves and candied fruit.
• Palate: The Cognac is rounded and gentle on the palate. Its sweetness accompanies a multifaceted flavour profile.
• Finish: Pronounced oak notes emerge in the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bourgoin is a family-run estate in Tarsac, a village in the municipality of Saint-Saturnin in the Charente, west of Angoulême. The family has been distilling since 1986; from late 2015, Frédéric Bourgoin further developed sales under the family's own name. Alongside its own bottlings, the estate continues to produce eaux-de-vie for long-established Cognac houses.

From grape growing and winemaking to distillation and ageing, production remains on the estate. For its own Cognacs, Bourgoin uses no colouring, added sugar or filtration. Bottling is carried out by hand using gravity. The family thus combines work in the vineyard with the complete processing of its grapes.
