Special Features:

Claude Thorin VSOP is produced entirely on the family’s own estate in Grande Champagne, the Premier Cru of the Cognac region. The family uses Ugni Blanc for this bottling. The wines are distilled twice with their fine lees. Maturation then begins with one year in new Limousin oak casks and continues in casks previously used to mature Cognac.

Subtle orange blossom and vanilla notes accompany its rounded character. This VSOP can be enjoyed as an aperitif, after a meal or in cocktails; it also pairs well with crème brûlée. Bottled at 40% alcohol, it comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Floral notes mingle with peach and apricot on the nose. A delicate oak note complements the aromas.
• Palate: The Cognac is full-bodied and rounded on the palate, with subtle sweetness and spicy nuances.
• Finish: The finish is long and soft.

Distillery/Bottler:

The family business traces its roots to 1879, when Pierre Thorin began growing grapes. André Thorin revived the estate in 1950, and Claude Thorin took over its management in 1988. Today, he continues to develop the business alongside his daughters. The vineyards lie between Segonzac and Mainxe, in the heart of Grande Champagne. Harvesting, distillation and maturation all remain on the estate.

The family captures the heart of the spirit through traditional two-stage distillation using the repasse method. The individual eaux-de-vie are tasted regularly in preparation for blending. Claude Thorin records each cask’s aromatic characteristics and tracks their development over time. These records help guide the selection of eaux-de-vie for the house’s different Cognacs.
