Special Features:

For No.72 Héritage, Grosperrin blended two Grande Champagne Cognacs from different winegrowers: one from Saint-Fort-sur-le-Né and the other from Merpins. Both were produced in the same year. After blending, the Cognac continued to mature for several years in the house’s cellars in Saintes.

Fruit, flowers and mature wood shape this bottling. Alongside apricots and floral accents, there are impressions of candied apricot, dried flowers and old, waxed wood. At 50.2%, the Cognac has a high alcohol content, balanced by a character that is both delicate and powerful.

The Cognac is bottled without added colouring. Grosperrin gives its Collection Cognacs only a light filtration at room temperature, without chilling. This bottling contains 0.7 litres and comes in brown corrugated cardboard gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: On the nose, ripe apricots mingle with the spice of old oak. A delicate floral nuance completes the bouquet.
  • Palate: On the palate, delicate lavender and lily notes meet a concentrated flavour of ripe apricots.
  • Finish: A balanced sweetness persists through the long, complex finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The history of the Grosperrin family business is closely tied to the search for old Cognac stocks. Jean Grosperrin began working as a Cognac broker in 1992, visiting small distillers across the region. In 1999, he bought his first casks of old Cognac, which his family bottled in small quantities. Rather than allowing distinctive lots to disappear into large blends, he wanted to preserve their individual origins and stories.

Guilhem Grosperrin took over the business in 2004, developing both the selection of old stocks and their further maturation. Since 2012, the house has used historic cellars dating from the 19th century on the banks of the Charente in Saintes. For maturation, Grosperrin favours wood with gentle tannins and avoids heavy cask toasting, so that strong toasted notes do not overshadow the spirit’s fruit.
