Special Features:

This XO brings together extended cask ageing and the art of glassmaking. Created in the late 1970s, the cuvée blends eaux-de-vie from Fins Bois. The youngest are around 15 years old and the oldest nearly 50. They mature predominantly in previously used French oak casks from Limousin or Allier.

Ugni Blanc grapes provide the foundation. The wines are double-distilled with their lees in a Charentais pot still. Before bottling, the Cognac is chill-filtered and brought to an alcohol strength of 40%. It contains no colouring.

The distinctive bottle shape grew out of a collaboration between Jean-Yves Landier and glass artist Alain Guillot. Today, Alain's son Frédéric continues to mouth-blow the bottles. This handcrafted process makes every bottle individual. This bottling comes in dark blue gift packaging with gold-coloured decoration and contains 0.7 litres.

Orange and violet add distinctive accents alongside the pronounced fruitiness and spice. A rancio note adds another dimension. The Cognac can be enjoyed neat or over ice.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: The nose opens with passion fruit and mango alongside chrysanthemums, roses and violets. As it develops, raisins, dates, apricots, blackberries and watermelon emerge. Gentle spices, honey and vanilla complement the bouquet, while a subtle hint of smoke stays in the background. Quince and apple add further fruity accents. Lime and green grass sit alongside gentle vanilla and caramel notes.
  • Palate: The fruit remains distinct on the palate, while nutmeg and curry bring pronounced spice. Liquorice is followed by vanilla, nuts and pipe tobacco. Orange, delicate pepper and rancio round out the layered flavour.
  • Finish: The long finish feels fresh and rounded. Candied stone fruit with juicy apricot, nuts and spices linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Landier family has roots in Fins Bois dating back to 1890. Rémi Landier and his sons founded the Cognac brand bearing his name in 1973. Today, Jean-Yves Landier and his daughter Géraldine run the house as its fourth and fifth generations.

In Rouillac, the family runs Chai27, which Jean-Yves and Géraldine established together in 2012. Alongside the shop, it houses the ageing cellar and facilities for packaging and storing the family's own production. The family's work encompasses Cognac, Pineau des Charentes and wines with the IGP Charentais designation. The vineyards and distillery can be visited by appointment.
