Special Features:

Two crus and two maturation ages lie at the heart of this Small Batch: Vallein Tercinier's cellar master blends 25-year-old Fins Bois with 15-year-old Bons Bois. Both Cognacs matured exclusively in oak casks. The house calls this combination Double Single.

The Cognac retains its natural golden colour and is not chill-filtered. It is bottled at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. It won a gold medal at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is intense and fruit-led. Apricots, oranges and plums mingle with honey, complemented by anise and almonds.
• Palate: Ginger appears first on the palate. Soft, intense fruit notes then unfold, echoing the aromas on the nose.
• Finish: Peach and orange shape the long, lingering finish. At the end, nutmeg, white pepper and strongly brewed green tea provide a spicy, astringent contrast to the fruit and floral notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Vallein Tercinier is based at Domaine des Forges in Chermignac, in the Saintonge region. Louis Vallein bought the estate in 1791; Georges Vallein founded the trading house around 1850 while also working as a distiller. His son Paul developed his own blends and sold the Cognac in bottles.

Subsequent generations also combined distilling and trading. After Robert Tercinier joined the business in 1947, eight stills produced Cognac for the family company and other trading houses for around thirty years. In the 1990s, his son Louis took over production, while his daughter Catherine managed the commercial side.
