Cadenhead's Enigma BM.2.A is a teaspooned whisky: a tiny amount of malt whisky from a second distillery is added to a malt whisky. This creates a Blended Malt, even though whisky from one distillery makes up by far the larger share. This 27-year-old release was distilled in 1997 and matured in Bourbon Hogsheads. A total of 1,140 bottles were filled at 51.8%.

Pear and gooseberry contrast with sweet pastry notes, butterscotch and honeycomb. Cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger complement this fruity, spicy character. The whisky was bottled in 2024 without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, pears and cinnamon mingle with aromas of warm pastries, biscuits filled with vanilla cream and butterscotch mousse.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet oat biscuits and honeycomb meet nutmeg and gooseberries.
• Finish: The finish combines mint leaves and white grapes with dark sugar syrup and ginger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Cadenhead's is the independent bottler of this Blended Malt. The company owns thousands of casks from numerous Scottish distilleries and distilleries elsewhere. An experienced team uses tastings to assess when a whisky is ready for bottling. Buying casks, transferring whisky between casks and marrying whiskies are also part of the team's shared work.

Cadenhead's carries out maturation and bottling in Campbeltown. The company belongs to J & A Mitchell & Co Ltd, which also owns the Springbank and Mitchell's Glengyle distilleries.
