Cadenhead's Enigma range features whiskies whose distilleries remain unnamed. Edition LOW.1.A comes from Scotland's Lowlands and matured in a Bourbon Hogshead. This single malt was distilled in 2013 and bottled ten years later, in November 2023.

The profile brings together lively citrus notes and a soft, creamy texture. Alongside New York Cheesecake, the whisky also evokes lime pie. Gooseberry and citrus peel sit alongside sweet pastry notes, while the finish adds bread, nuts and white grapes.

The whisky from the Bourbon Hogshead yielded 342 bottles at 56.4%. Cadenhead's bottled it without added colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals gooseberries, lemon peel and the sweetness of icing sugar.
• Palate: On the palate, notes of New York Cheesecake and digestive biscuits combine with lime juice.
• Finish: Impressions of rye bread, Brazil nuts and white grapes linger on the finish.

This single malt comes from an unnamed Lowland distillery. As the independent bottler, Cadenhead's selected the Bourbon Hogshead and bottled its whisky under the Enigma code LOW.1.A.

Cadenhead's is Scotland's oldest independent bottler. The company's history began in Aberdeen in 1842, and J & A Mitchell & Co Ltd acquired the business in 1972. Today, the spirits are bottled on site in Campbeltown.

Cadenhead's can select its bottlings from a stock of several thousand casks from different distilleries. The team follows their development through tastings and decides when to bottle a whisky based on its flavour. Neither age nor the distillery's reputation is the deciding factor.
