Special Features:

Thirty years of maturation in a first-fill Oloroso Sherry Butt define this single-cask Edradour. The whisky was distilled on 17 August 1993 and bottled from cask 302 on 1 September 2023. The release comprises 562 Ibisco decanters, each containing 0.7 litres and presented in a wooden box. Its natural cask strength is 56%.

The whisky has no added colouring and is not chill-filtered. Its concentrated, mature character combines dried fruit and dry sherry with toasted notes, earthy spice and distinctly savoury impressions. Sweetness is therefore not its sole defining feature.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is dense and creamy. Dried figs and dry sherry are accompanied by a distinct alcoholic note. Lightly burnt toast and earthy impressions of an autumn woodland add austere accents. The nose is not smoky.
• Palate: On the palate, toasted cereals, rye bread, fig bread and dried mushrooms combine with savoury notes of black pudding and blue cheese. The whisky is dense, full-bodied and spicy.
• Finish: The finish is very long. The toasted cereal, bread, mushroom and savoury impressions found on the palate fade slowly.

Distillery/Bottler:

Edradour Distillery was founded near Pitlochry in 1825 by a group of local farmers. Its historic farm buildings house an open cast-iron mash tun, Oregon pine washbacks and small copper pot stills. A Morton Refrigerator cools the wort with cold water; after distillation, the vapour condenses in worm tubs, water-cooled vessels containing coiled copper pipes.

Since Andrew Symington took over the distillery in 2002, production, maturation and bottling have been located close together on site. The traditional plant operates without computer-controlled equipment. The whisky from cask 302 is an official Edradour distillery bottling.
