This Highland Park comes from the single Sherry Hogshead #1271. The spirit was distilled in Orkney on 7 March 1992 and bottled by Artful Dodger in March 2021 after 28 years of maturation. Artful Dodger bottled the whisky at 46.6%, producing 297 bottles of 0.5 litres each. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring; the bottle is presented in a premium box.

Golden honey and heather honey mingle with orange peel, ginger, dark chocolate and heather. Stewed fruit, honeycomb, cinnamon, oak and smoked heather broaden the profile with mature fruit, spice and delicate smoke.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals red berries, apples and kiwi alongside marzipan and fruitcake. Damp oak, mineral notes and hints of varnish, citronella wax and tobacco leaves emerge in the background.
• Palate: The whisky feels very oily on the palate, combining sunflower oil and herbal salves with grapefruit, chalk and bitter orange marmalade. Black pepper, a saline note, mandarin and herbal honey follow, while limestone and very delicate smoke round out the profile.
• Finish: The finish is long, mineral and gently spicy. Medicinal notes, wax and drying tobacco define the close.

Distillery/Bottler:

Highland Park Distillery is located in Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands and has operated since 1798. It continues to use traditional floor malting for part of its malt. Peat from Hobbister Moor contributes to the distillery’s aromatic, heather-led style of smoke.

The Brighton-based Artful Dodger Whisky Collective focuses on rare, hard-to-find casks and limited editions. For this single-cask bottling, Highland Park produced the spirit, while Artful Dodger selected Sherry Hogshead #1271 and bottled the whisky.
