KinGlassie Raw is the limited edition of InchDairnie’s heavily peated single malt matured in American ex-bourbon casks. Distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2025, the spirit matured for eight years. Alongside KinGlassie Double Matured, Raw was among the distillery’s first single malt releases in May 2025.

For KinGlassie, the distillery uses barley from Fife and mainland peat from St Fergus in Aberdeenshire. The target is approximately 50 ppm, while the malt specification ranges from 40 to 60 ppm to allow for variations between harvest years. The heavily peated spirit is produced during a short winter production window of around seven to ten days.

Smouldering hearth smoke and rich, sweet maltiness form this bottling’s characteristic contrast. Bright notes of vanilla and fruit emerge alongside the powerful peat smoke. KinGlassie Raw is bottled at 46.3% ABV, with natural colour and without chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Pronounced campfire smoke envelops sweet malt with hints of honey. Lemon cake, green apple and a light note of vanilla provide brighter accents.
• Palate: The whisky initially tastes malty and slightly cake-like on the palate; a little water makes its texture creamier. Ash, a lightly salty note, red apple, smoked citrus fruit and a pinch of pepper provide the counterpoint.
• Finish: The medium-length finish is slightly dry. Sweet malt and smoky grain husks linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

InchDairnie Distillery in Fife combines traditional whisky production with a technology-led approach. A hammer mill grinds the grain for the Mash Conversion Vessel and mash filter. The filter’s membranes enable intensive extraction of sugars and flavours while allowing different types of grain to be processed. During fermentation, the concentrated wort supports the formation of numerous flavour compounds.

The distillery began production in December 2015 and distilled KinGlassie for the first time in 2017. The whisky matures at the distillery site in Fife, and KinGlassie Raw is an official bottling from InchDairnie Distillery. It was released on 8 May 2025 alongside KinGlassie Double Matured as one of the distillery’s first single malts.
