Special Features:

The fourth edition of MARS The Y.A. combines malt whiskies from the Mars Komagatake Distillery and the Mars Tsunuki Distillery. Components from ex-bourbon casks matured at the Mars Yakushima Aging Cellar form the heart of the blend. The whisky was bottled at 50%, with a volume of 0.7 litres. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Banana and other tropical fruit aromas sit alongside mandarin, peat smoke, damp moss and leather. Honey and oak lend sweet and woody accents to the full-bodied character, while a slightly salty sea-breeze note accompanies the long, warm finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe exotic fruit combines with earthy peat smoke and damp moss.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and complex on the palate, with a balanced combination of sweet fruit and smoky undertones.
• Finish: The finish is long and warm, with lingering peat smoke and a slightly salty maritime note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hombo Shuzo's whisky history began in Kagoshima in 1949. Today, the company produces malt whisky at the Mars Komagatake Distillery at the foot of Japan's Central Alps and at the Mars Tsunuki Distillery in Kagoshima. It uses three maturation sites with different natural conditions. The Mars Yakushima Aging Cellar, established in 2016, also matures distillates from both distilleries. For this bottling, malts from Komagatake and Tsunuki matured on Yakushima before Hombo Shuzo blended them.
