Special Features:

This Royal Brackla comes from a re-charred butt. Distilled in 2014, the single malt matured for ten years before Thompson Bros. bottled it in 2024 at 55.3%, producing 387 bottles. It is neither coloured nor chill-filtered.

Its aromas bring together toasted grain and malt with flowers, heather, lemon zest, vanilla and toast. Candied pear, ginger, oak and herbs add further layers, alongside notes of apple, salted caramel and honey.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers salted caramel, toffee-coated apple and pear, accompanied by flower pollen, sweet lemon and honey.
• Palate: On the palate, buttery, honey-sweet oat biscuits and a malty beer note mingle with pear, red apple, ginger and black pepper. Fresh oak complements the fruit.
• Finish: Sweet lemon and pear return on the finish, which ends with a slight tartness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Captain William Fraser founded Royal Brackla on the Cawdor Estate in the Highlands in 1812. It was the first Scottish whisky distillery to receive a Royal Warrant. Fermentation at Royal Brackla can last up to 80 hours, and its tall stills are run slowly. Royal Brackla is part of Bacardi’s portfolio and is operated by John Dewar & Sons.

Phil and Simon Thompson developed their whisky business from the bar at Dornoch Castle Hotel. Alongside their own Dornoch Distillery, which began production in 2017, they release independent bottlings from other distilleries under the Thompson Bros. name. For this small release, they bottled whisky from Royal Brackla.
