Special Features:

Maturation in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts shapes this 15-year-old Glenburgie from Signatory Vintage’s 100 Proof Exceptional Cask Edition #2. The whisky was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2024 at 57.1%. The sherry casks were used for its maturation, rather than merely for a final finishing period. No colouring is added, and the whisky is not chill-filtered.

Alongside the spicy wood influence, fruity notes of Pink Lady apple, redcurrant and clementine remain discernible. Desiccated coconut and honeycomb complement this side of the whisky.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals fruity notes of Pink Lady apple, redcurrant and clementine.
• Palate: The whisky feels full and velvety on the palate. Fruitcake, dark sugar syrup and sweet malt combine with espresso, toasted almonds and warming sherry-cask spice.
• Finish: The long finish feels velvety. Dried fruit, a bitter cocoa note and oak tannins linger alongside a gentle sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenburgie is located near Alves, between Forres and Elgin in Speyside. The distillery began production in 1829 under the name Kilnflat and adopted its current name in 1878. For a time, Lomond stills were also used there to produce a distinct malt called Glencraig. Glenburgie is best known as an important component of Ballantine’s blends; independent bottlings also offer the opportunity to enjoy the malt on its own.

Signatory Vintage selected and bottled the Glenburgie for this release. Andrew Symington founded the company with his brother in 1988. His interest in the differences between individual whisky casks developed while he was working at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh. Following the purchase of Edradour Distillery in 2002, Signatory moved all its operations to the distillery’s site near Pitlochry by 2007. Additional warehouse capacity for more than 20,000 casks was created there.
