This vintage cognac combines the long maturation of a spirit distilled in Fins Bois in 1978 with bottling at cask strength. Its strength of 58% is linked to storage in a particularly dry cellar. Mauxion Selection bottles this cognac without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in a wooden box.

Decades of maturation in oak casks shape a cognac with floral and woody accents alongside fruit and vanilla. Spice is particularly prominent on the palate, while the nose reveals a more delicate rancio note.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Intense dried fruit and vanilla notes mingle with cedarwood and white flowers on the nose. A very delicate rancio note adds another accent.
• Palate: The opening is clean and full-bodied. Spice notes define the palate, complemented by sweet flavours and a hint of oak.
• Finish: The finish lingers for a very long time, accompanied by fine tannins.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Mauxion family has roots in Houlette dating back to the 16th century. In 1743, Antoine Mauxion began producing eaux-de-vie from grapes grown in the family's own vineyard. The work passed down through the generations encompasses vine growing and winemaking, as well as distillation in copper stills followed by maturation in French oak.

Thibault Mauxion introduced Mauxion Selection in 2018. The range comprises cognacs from individual producers across the different growing areas of the Cognac region, including stocks from his own family. The maturity attained and the distinctive character of their origin guide the choice of bottlings; the selection includes unblended cognacs bottled at cask strength.
