Special Features:

The beer barrel finish brings together Flóki’s whisky maturation and Icelandic craft beer culture. The single malt first spends three years in American oak casks that previously held Flóki Young Malt. This maturation takes place at the foot of the Hekla volcano. The whisky then receives its finish in a barrel that previously held beer from an Icelandic craft brewery. First released in 2019, this edition is offered as a single-cask bottling.

Sweet malt and a subtle bitter edge shape the flavour, with caramel, hops and herbs adding to the profile. The 2023 bottling contains no added colouring and is not chill-filtered. It has an alcohol content of 47% and is supplied in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, malt and caramel mingle with a subtle hop note.
• Palate: The palate reveals sweet malt accompanied by delicate bitter nuances.
• Finish: The long finish is warm. Fresh herbs linger, complemented by a hint of toasted wood.

Distillery/Bottler:

Eimverk Distillery is a family business founded in 2009. It uses exclusively Icelandic barley for Flóki. This hardy barley variety is adapted to the island’s short summer. Eimverk grows its own barley and works with stills designed and built specifically for the distillery.

Flóki’s development was preceded by four years of work involving 163 experimental distillations and maturation trials. This laid the foundation for Eimverk’s Icelandic single malt. Alongside whisky, the distillery also produces Vor gin and Víti Brennivín; local ingredients form the shared basis of these spirits.
