For this cherry liqueur, Teerenpeli combines its Single Malt Whisky with cherry juice. The whisky matures in American oak ex-bourbon casks and contributes vanilla-inflected fruitiness to the blend. Alongside the cherry sweetness, the character of the whisky base also comes to the fore.

The recipe contains Teerenpeli Single Malt Whisky, water, sugar, cherry juice concentrate, cherry flavouring and ascorbic acid. The sugar content is 100 grams per litre. This red liqueur is offered at 30% alcohol in a glass bottle containing 0.5 litres and contains no colouring.

The liqueur can be enjoyed neat, chilled or in cocktails. Its combination of cherry fruit and whisky also pairs well with chocolate cake.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Cherries take centre stage on the nose, accompanied by a light almond note and a hint of vanilla.
• Palate: On the palate, gentle cherry sweetness combines with the malty notes of the Single Malt Whisky. The combination feels rounded and balanced.
• Finish: The cherry fruit lingers on the finish, accompanied by a dry almond note and subtle vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

Teerenpeli is a family business based in Lahti, Finland. Anssi and Marianne Pyysing are behind the group, whose history began with a bar in 1994. Its own microbrewery followed the next year, and in 2002 a whisky distillery was added at the Taivaanranta restaurant in the city centre.

Teerenpeli uses copper pot stills handcrafted in Scotland to make its whisky. Since 2015, a larger distillery beside the brewery in the Lotila district has complemented the original site. Taivaanranta also remains in operation and provides space for developing new products. The distillery's general cask selection consists mainly of former bourbon and sherry casks, alongside casks that previously held port, Madeira or rum.
