5 Continents Hamburg Dry Gin brings together 22 botanicals from five continents. Ginger and cardamom come from Asia, grains of paradise and coriander from Africa, eucalyptus from Australia, mate and cactus from the Americas, and lavender and iris root from Europe. Juniper and citrus provide a dry foundation. They are joined by bitter-edged ginger and cardamom notes, the heat of grains of paradise, also known as Guinea pepper, fresh eucalyptus notes and soft impressions of mate and cactus. Lavender and iris root add floral accents.

The name Hamburg Dry Gin combines a connection to the Hamburg region with the London Dry production method. All the botanicals are distilled together, and no sugar or other sweeteners are added. The gin is produced at the distillery on Gut Basthorst and bottled at 47%.

All 22 botanicals are organically grown. The gin is certified organic and bears the certification body code DE-ÖKO-006. Its organic approach therefore covers the raw ingredients throughout the recipe.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose has a classic dry character. Juniper and citrus mingle with peppery, woody and root-like notes.
• Palate: The palate opens with a velvety, almost sweet and floral character. Juniper and pepper then emerge, accompanied by the gentle heat of ginger and grains of paradise.
• Finish: The finish lingers for a long time and leaves a pleasant warmth.

Distillery/Bottler:

Feingeisterei produces the gin at its own distillery on Gut Basthorst near Hamburg. Distiller Fabian Rohrwasser developed 5 Continents with its 22 organic botanicals. He founded Feingeisterei in September 2013 and is its managing director.

A trained sound engineer, Rohrwasser established the distillery to fulfil his ambition of making spirits himself. The business processes its raw ingredients from the initial preparation through to the distillate, without adding flavourings or sugar. Alongside gin, its range includes fruit brandies, rum, vodka and whisky.
