Citrus fruits take centre stage in LE Tribute, while juniper adds a subtle touch to the flavour. The recipe includes orange, lemon, grapefruit, kumquat, mandarin and lime, alongside juniper and lemongrass. This Spanish New Western gin combines fresh fruit notes with an underlying dry character.

Production begins with a wheat- and barley-based spirit. Once selected, the botanicals are checked again at the distillery and prepared by hand for maceration. The individual botanical groups are distilled separately; their distillates are then combined according to the Giró family recipe. The gin is bottled at 43% alcohol in 0.7-litre bottles.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Lime, grapefruit and mandarin shape the fresh, fruity and pleasantly bitter aroma. A hint of lemongrass complements the citrus notes, while juniper remains subtly in the background.
• Palate: The gin is dry on the palate. Orange and kumquat combine sweet and bitter accents, with restrained juniper complementing the flavour. Lemongrass adds a delicate herbal freshness.
• Finish: The medium-long to long finish retains the fresh citrus notes. Subtle spice accompanies the clean aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

MG Destilerías produces LE Tribute in Vilanova i la Geltrú on the Catalan coast near Barcelona. The Giró family's history in drinks production dates back to 1835: its early products included medicinal syrups, horchata and aguardiente. In 1940, Gin MG became its first gin.

The LE Tribute brand was created in 2016 to honour this family history and the craft of distillation. For its gin, the company combines its inherited approach to developing recipes with the separate processing of botanical groups. Their distillates are carefully blended into the finished gin, rather than distilling all the ingredients together.
