Special Features:

Broker’s follows a classic London Dry recipe with ten botanicals. Its base is quadruple-distilled spirit made from English wheat. The botanicals steep in this spirit for 24 hours before a further distillation in a copper pot still. The flavours come from the botanicals; no flavourings or colours are added afterwards.

The recipe includes juniper berries, coriander seeds, orange and lemon peel, nutmeg, liquorice root, cinnamon, orris root, cassia bark and angelica root. This version is bottled at 40% in a 0.7-litre bottle. It provides a juniper-led base for classic drinks such as a gin and tonic, Martini or Negroni.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Juniper leads the nose, accompanied by candied fruit peel. Coriander, lively citrus notes and gentle black pepper spice round out the aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, spicy juniper combines with fresh botanical notes and sweet, ripe fruit. Distinct orange and lemon peel, coriander and pepper meet a sweet violet note and the pine-like freshness of juniper.
• Finish: Resinous pine notes and the spice of crushed black pepper linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Brothers Andy and Martin Dawson launched Broker’s in 1998 with the aim of offering a classic London Dry gin. The branding evokes a London stockbroker: the figure on the label wears a bowler hat, and a small hat of the same shape sits on the bottle. The recipe has its roots in the English distillery’s roughly 200-year history.

The gin is produced at Langley Distillery near Birmingham. Owned by Alcohols Ltd, the distillery occupies the historic Crosswells Brewery site. Its copper pot stills include Jenny, which is also used for Broker’s. When making gin, Langley separates the heads, hearts and tails, retaining only the hearts for further use.
