A year in a port wine cask adds another dimension to this Irish gin. For this cask-aged version, Connacht Distillery uses its Conncullin Gin, whose juniper profile is accompanied by berry notes. The additional maturation changes both its colour and its flavour.

This limited edition is bottled at 45% alcohol in bottles containing 0.7 litres. Alongside juniper, it offers floral and fruity notes, vanilla and honey. The gin can also be enjoyed neat.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, juniper mingles with floral notes and vanilla, complemented by a hint of berries.
• Palate: On the palate, juniper, elderberries and hawthorn meet citrus notes and a subtle sweetness.
• Finish: White grapes and honey linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Connacht Distillery is located on the River Moy in Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland. It occupies the converted premises of the former Duffy’s Bakery and opened in 2015; whiskey production began the following year. The site brings together the production stages from milling the grain through fermentation and distillation to maturation and bottling.

Alongside whiskey, the distillery also produces gin and Irish Poitín and operates three copper pot stills. The name Conncullin combines the names of Lough Conn and Lough Cullin, the two lakes in County Mayo from which the distillery sources its water.
