Special Features:

Crespo combines London Dry production with water from the protected El Cajas area in the Ecuadorian Andes. Its eleven botanicals come from eight countries across four continents and are weighed by hand. They macerate in extra-neutral alcohol that has already been distilled five times at its place of origin. The gin then undergoes fractional distillation.

The recipe includes juniper, coriander, orange and lemon peel, cardamom, cinnamon, cassia, liquorice, angelica root, dill seeds and orris root. Citrus and cardamom are particularly prominent. The gin is bottled at 45%; filling, labelling and sealing are carried out by hand, and each bottle is numbered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is sweet and distinctly citrus-led, with orange, coriander and cardamom. Black pepper and a hint of raspberry add to the aromas.
• Palate: Sweet citrus and orange notes meet honey and coriander on the palate, alongside raspberry, banana and juniper.
• Finish: Coriander, cardamom and citrus notes remain present in the sweet finish, accompanied by raspberry and cherry.

Distillery/Bottler:

Gustavo Crespo Veintimilla is the man behind Crespo. During a visit to his grandfather’s distillery in Uzhupud in 1963, he developed his first gin recipe. He initially pursued a career in telecommunications, only returning to his experiments after retirement. Unable to find his old notebook, he developed a new recipe.

This led to the creation of Gin GCV in 2016, a brand named after his initials. With a new bottle and brand identity, Crespo London Dry Gin launched in Spain in 2018, followed by further expansion into Europe.
