Special Features:

Edinburgh Cannonball uses a particularly generous quantity of botanicals. Compared with the other gins in the Edinburgh Gin range at the time, it contains almost twice as much juniper and citrus. Its higher strength of 57.2% allows this intense botanical character, while the rich botanical recipe provides a smooth mouthfeel that balances the alcohol’s warmth. Tuscan juniper, lemon peel, Japanese yuzu and Szechuan pepper are among its defining ingredients.

This Navy Strength gin takes its name from Edinburgh’s maritime history and the famous One O’Clock Gun at Edinburgh Castle. The miniature contains 0.05 litres and comes without gift packaging. Its bold juniper-and-citrus profile and peppery spice suit a gin and tonic as well as a Martini or Negroni.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Fresh juniper with pine-like notes and lively citrus aromas lead the nose.
• Palate: Bold, pine-like juniper opens the palate, followed by zesty citrus notes. Earthy spice and a peppery kick round out the profile.
• Finish: The long finish moves from intense citrus notes to warming, dry spice. Szechuan pepper leaves a tingling sensation.

Distillery/Bottler:

Edinburgh Gin was founded in 2010 by Alex and Jane Nicol, who owned the Spencerfield Spirit Company. They initially sold their gin at local events around Edinburgh. As demand grew, distilleries were established at Rutland Place and in the Biscuit Factory in Leith. Small experimental stills were used there to develop recipes before these were transferred to the larger equipment.

In 2024, production moved to the purpose-built Edinburgh Gin Distillery at The Arches in the heart of the city. Three custom-made Carl stills form the core of its production equipment. Alongside production, the distillery offers tours, tastings and a gin school where visitors can develop their own botanical recipe.
