Special Features:

Fourteen botanicals bring together Edinburgh Classic's traditional juniper base and less usual ingredients such as pine buds, black mulberries and hazelnuts. Lavender, lemongrass, orange peel and lime peel also feature. Made with grain alcohol, the gin is distilled in small batches, combining distillates from column stills and swan-neck pot stills. This miniature contains 0.05 litres at 43% alcohol.

The botanicals each play a different role: pine buds add a subtle woody nuance, lavender provides floral accents, and black mulberries evoke fruit jam. The natural oils in the hazelnuts contribute to the soft mouthfeel. Serve with tonic water, ice and a twist of orange zest; Classic also works well in a Martini, Negroni or Gimlet.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, juniper and pine buds meet lavender and citrus notes.
• Palate: Juniper leads on the palate, accompanied by fresh citrus notes and earthy spice.
• Finish: Citrus notes of orange and lime peel linger on the finish alongside warming spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Edinburgh Gin began in 2010 as a project by Alex and Jane Nicol, who sold their first bottles at local garden events and other gatherings. In 2014, the brand opened its distillery at Rutland Place with two small Carl stills. A further site in Leith later expanded production.

Since 2024, Edinburgh Gin has brought production together at a specially fitted-out distillery at The Arches on East Market Street. Three custom-made Carl stills are used for production there. The historic vaults also house tasting rooms and a gin laboratory, where visitors can develop their own botanical recipes with guidance.
