Special Features:

This gin combines rhubarb and ginger with Edinburgh Gin Classic London Dry. Its gin base brings together distillates from column stills and swan-neck pot stills, with botanicals including lemongrass and mulberry. The rhubarb and ginger are pressed and then incorporated through infusion. The result combines fruity sweetness and tartness with warming spice and distinct juniper and pine notes. Only natural flavourings are used.

The combination began as a gin liqueur and was developed further to create this distinct gin expression at 40% alcohol. The miniature contains 0.05 litres. The gin can be served with tonic water or used in cocktails.

This gin won a gold medal with 95 points at the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2019. At the World Gin Awards 2020, it was named Scotland’s best flavoured gin.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals distinct rhubarb and juniper aromas, accompanied by a gentle sweetness.
• Palate: On the palate, juniper combines with the fruity tartness of rhubarb. Citrus notes and spices round out the flavour.
• Finish: The finish is smooth and rounded, with lingering spice. Juniper and ginger lend freshness to the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Alex and Jane Nicol founded Edinburgh Gin in 2010, initially selling their gin from a van at local garden shows. At Rutland Place, the distillery worked with two small stills, Flora and Caledonia. As the business grew, a second production site opened in Leith in 2016; its still, The Gin Genie, was named after David Bowie.

For its London Dry gins, the distillery processes botanicals such as juniper and coriander in copper stills. Lighter botanicals are incorporated through vapour infusion. These different techniques form part of Edinburgh Gin’s approach and allow it to use different botanical ingredients selectively.
