Special Features:

Bergamot and rose petals complement the classic juniper and coriander character of Kookie Irish Gin. The recipe grew out of a collaboration between Irish entertainer Alan Clarke, the Connacht Distillery and spirits expert Julia Nourney, who selected the two additional key botanicals.

The gin is bottled at 42.4% in bottles containing 0.7 litres. Its character combines citrus freshness with spicy, herbal and subtly floral notes. Restrained sweetness and piquant bitter notes provide a contrast.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The gin initially offers a very fresh scent of citrus peel. Distinct juniper and coriander form the foundation, bringing floral and herbal touches. A subtle sweetness recalls bitter orange marmalade.
• Palate: The palate reveals layered spice with oily juniper. Here, coriander seeds evoke blood orange peel and candied orange peel. A piquant bitterness in the background recalls sloes and other wild fruits. Herbal and delicately floral notes complete the flavour.
• Finish: Juniper remains on the palate with an oily impression. Lightly floral bitter notes linger for a long time before gradually fading.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Connacht Distillery stands on the River Moy in Ballina, County Mayo. Established in the former Duffy’s Bakery, it opened in 2015 and began whiskey production the following year. The site is equipped to accommodate every stage on site, from milling the grain through fermentation and distillation to maturation and bottling. Alongside whiskey, the distillery also produces gin and Irish Poitín.
