Six botanicals define No.3's classic style: juniper berries, orange and grapefruit peel, coriander seeds, cardamom pods and angelica root. Juniper takes centre stage, complemented by citrus freshness and spice. The miniature contains 0.05 litres at 46% alcohol and comes without gift packaging.

The dried, crushed botanicals are weighed and steeped in grain alcohol for 16 hours. Distillation then takes up to seven hours in a roughly century-old copper still enclosed in brickwork in the Netherlands. The master distiller selects the heart of the distillate. After resting and filtration, the gin is diluted with water to bottling strength. Its juniper-led style works equally well in a Martini or a Gin and Tonic.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is fresh and clear. Pronounced juniper meets zesty citrus notes.
• Palate: Juniper leads on the palate, accompanied by floral notes and the warm spice of cardamom. Lively citrus notes complement coriander's ginger-like heat.
• Finish: Angelica root leaves an earthy, distinctly dry impression on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Behind No.3 is Berry Bros. & Rudd, based at 3 St James's Street in London since 1698. The gin takes its name from this address's house number. The key on the bottle also has its origins there: it was modelled on the key to the door of the visitors' parlour in the historic shop.

Berry Bros. & Rudd spent two years developing the gin with experts in distillation and bar culture. They included gin specialist Dr. David Clutton and Alessandro Palazzi of the DUKES Bar. Together, they refined the recipe, the balance of botanicals and the alcohol strength. Distillation takes place in the Netherlands.
