Special Features:

Nordés combines a base of grain alcohol and Albariño grape spirit with eleven botanicals. The grape spirit contributes to its soft, fruity character. Before distillation, the botanicals are steeped separately in alcohol. Depending on the botanical, this maceration lasts from a few hours to almost a month, allowing the desired aromas to be extracted selectively. The macerations are then distilled slowly in copper stills, before water brings the gin to its bottling strength of 40%.

Six botanicals reflect Galicia’s plant life: sage, bay leaf, lemon verbena, eucalyptus, peppermint and samphire. These are joined by juniper, ginger, cardamom, hibiscus and black Ceylon tea. This combination shapes the gin’s herbal, balsamic-fresh character, with samphire adding a subtle salty nuance. This version of Nordés comes in a bottle containing 1 litre.

For a gin and tonic, a neutral-tasting tonic water gives the botanicals room to express themselves. A skewer of white grapes echoes the gin’s fruity notes.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines delicate light-fruit notes with balsamic aromas of mint, eucalyptus and bay leaf. Juniper adds a subtle accent.
• Palate: Nordés is fresh and fruity on the palate. White peach and gentle spice complement the subtle juniper notes, while bay leaf also emerges on the exhale.
• Finish: The finish is soft and balanced.

Distillery/Bottler:

The idea for Nordés took shape in Galicia over a meal shared by three friends: a sommelier, a wine merchant and a master distiller. They wanted to create a gin whose ingredients reflected their homeland. Numerous trials led to the combination of Albariño and regional herbs. The name also has Galician roots: Nordés is the local name for the wind that heralds good weather.

The white bottle with its blue decoration draws on the traditional porcelain designs of Sargadelos. The recipe’s regional identity thus also finds expression in the bottle’s design.
