Special Features:

Blue gin with gold and silver glitter particles gives this official Star Trek special edition its distinctive appearance. Its design draws on fictional drinks from the Star Trek universe: the blue colour recalls Romulan whiskey, while adding tonic water turns it green in a nod to Aldebaran whiskey. The glitter effect is microplastic-free; the gin contains colouring.

V-SINNE Dry Gin provides the base. Stardust uses a total of 31 botanicals. The edition is available for a limited time rather than restricted to a fixed number of bottles. The gin is bottled at 40% in 0.5-litre bottles.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Spruce needles lead on the nose, accompanied by resinous, slightly tart impressions and dry fruitiness. The alcoholic freshness remains gently integrated, while juniper is initially less prominent.
• Palate: The gin is mild on the palate, without alcoholic heat. Spruce needles take centre stage, while blueberries lend a little sweetness to the initial impression. Lime and a spiciness reminiscent of fresh ginger follow. Only then does juniper become more pronounced. An oily texture coats the palate persistently.
• Finish: Bergamot, minty freshness and a dry fruit note define the long, warming finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

V-SINNE produces its spirits at its own Black Forest distillery in Emmendingen. Johann Buchmüller and Viktor Svetlov began their first gin experiments in 2016. After extensive experimentation, they invited family and friends to taste several recipes to help refine their selection. The Black Forest was intended to define not only the gin’s origin but also its recipe through regional herbs, roots and other botanicals.

The distillery works in small batches using a 147-litre column still that it restored itself. To make its Black Forest gin, it combines maceration, which involves soaking the ingredients, with vapour infusion: rising alcohol vapour passes through a botanical basket, picking up additional aromas. Ingredient selection and preparation, as well as distillation, are carried out by hand.
