Special Features:

The 17-year-old Glenfarclas is part of the distillery’s Aged Range. It spent the full 17 years maturing in Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 43%. The result is a smooth, rich single malt that combines ripe fruit and malty sweetness with the spicy influence of oak.

Its sherry character ranges from plum and date to creamy caramel, sweet malt and nutmeg. Heather, tobacco, dry oak spice and a very delicate smoky note provide more austere accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines roasted hazelnuts and almonds with plum compote, dates, malt sweets, buttery toffee, spicy oak and heather.
• Palate: The whisky is rich and creamy on the palate. Dried fruit is followed by caramel, nutmeg and sweet malt.
• Finish: The finish lingers for a long time, becoming increasingly dry before fading with nuts, fruit, sweet sherry notes, spices and oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenfarclas Distillery is located in Speyside, near the River Spey and below Ben Rinnes. It produces this single malt and releases it as an official distillery bottling.

John Grant acquired the distillery in 1865, and the family business J. & G. Grant was subsequently established. Glenfarclas has remained independent and family-owned, continuing through the fifth and sixth generations.

Glenfarclas double-distils in traditional directly fired pot stills. For maturation, the family selects European oak casks sourced from a family-run bodega, where they previously held Oloroso sherry.
