Special Features:

A single First Fill Sherry Butt shapes this anniversary release from Glenfarclas. Distilled in 2014, the single malt matured in cask number 5191 in the distillery’s traditional dunnage warehouses. The cask was selected for Kirsch Import’s 50th anniversary, and the edition was released for Whisky Live Germany.

The whisky was bottled at its cask strength of 64.4% on 17 August 2026. The worldwide release comprises 643 bottles, each containing 0.7 litres. It was neither chill-filtered nor coloured. Gift packaging is included.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Intense sherry aromas and dark dried fruit lead the nose, accompanied by a warm, sweet malt character.
• Palate: Dark berries and caramel meet toasted oak on the palate. The pronounced woody structure combines with intense fruitiness from the sherry cask.
• Finish: The long finish combines dark Demerara sweetness with spicy wood notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenfarclas lies at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Scotland’s Speyside region. Its spring water comes from the mountain’s slopes, and distillation takes place twice in directly fired stills. For maturation in sherry casks, John Grant selects European oak casks from a family-run Spanish bodega that previously held Oloroso sherry.

The Grant family’s connection began in 1865, when cattle farmer John Grant acquired the distillery together with the neighbouring farm. Glenfarclas remained an independent family business. When a major order for whisky destined for blends fell through in the late 1960s, George S. Grant decided to lay down more whisky for the company’s own bottlings. This long-term approach to building stocks laid the foundations for the old vintages later released in The Family Casks range.
