Distilled in 1996, this Balblair matured for 28 years in Refill Bourbon Barrel No. 413. Gordon & MacPhail bottled the whisky from this cask on 13 August 2024 at its natural cask strength of 50.4%. The single-cask release yielded 127 bottles of 0.7 litres each; the whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Despite its long maturation, the profile remains defined by bright notes: vanilla pod, green apple and lime zest open the aromatic interplay. Orange and honey add warmth, while a hint of milk chocolate provides a delicate accent. Citrus and pepper shape the medium-length finish. A note of oak completes the overall profile.

Distillery/Bottler:

Balblair Distillery was founded by John Ross in 1790 and is located in Edderton in the northern Highlands. The single malt for this release was distilled there in 1996.

Since its beginnings as a grocery business in 1895, Gordon & MacPhail has developed into a specialist in selecting and maturing single malt Scotch whisky. For this release, the independent house bottled the whisky from Barrel 413 as part of Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength. George Urquhart launched Connoisseurs Choice in 1968 to present individual single malts from different Scottish distilleries within one series.
