Special Features:

This Benriach matured in a single Refill American Hogshead, a cask previously used to mature whisky. Distilled in 1982, it was bottled from cask 5217 in 2022 after 40 years. Gordon & MacPhail selected the whisky for the Private Collection; the yield was just 69 bottles at 51.7%.

Fruity and vanilla notes combine with chocolate and oak spice. The whisky was bottled without chill filtration or added colouring and comes in a premium box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fresh fruit and vanilla combine with a hint of honey. Spicy notes and a subtle touch of oak complement the aroma.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and rich on the palate. Dried fruit and chocolate meet a hint of cinnamon and elegant oak spice.
• Finish: The long finish is warm and gently sweet, with soft oak notes lingering.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1898, Benriach Distillery is located in Speyside. Alongside unpeated whisky, it also produces peated and triple-distilled variants and is one of the few Scottish distilleries with its own floor maltings. These different production methods form part of the distillery's repertoire.

Gordon & MacPhail was founded in Elgin in 1895 and is the independent bottler of this Benriach. For the Private Collection, the directors, including members of the third and fourth generations of the Urquhart family, select individual casks. They draw on knowledge of spirit selection and cask maturation passed down through generations. The single-cask bottlings display the vintage, cask number and natural alcoholic strength on their labels.
