Distilled in 2008, this Glentauchers spent 16 years in refill bourbon barrel #22605415. Gordon & MacPhail bottled the whisky in 2025 as a single-cask release in its Connoisseurs Choice range, at its natural cask strength of 56.8%. The barrel yielded 253 bottles of 0.7 litres each. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. It comes in gift packaging.

Its fruit character spans banana, poached pear and mandarin through to apple and pomegranate, with tropical notes of pineapple and mango. Malty pastries, heather honey and oak complement the fruit, while fresh citrus adds a bright accent.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe banana and poached pear appear on the nose, followed by freshly cut grass. Mango, mandarin and orange accompany malty pastries.
• Palate: Red apple and pomegranate juice meet lime zest on the palate. A delicate milk chocolate note is followed by a hint of herbs and charred oak.
• Finish: The light, delicate finish brings together pineapple, mango and heather honey. Vanilla and subtle oak spice linger for a medium length of time.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glentauchers Distillery is in Speyside. James Buchanan and W. P. Lowrie founded it in 1897 on the site of Tauchers Farm. From the outset, its malt was intended for blended Scotch. Since 2007, Chivas Brothers has also used the distillery to train new distillation technicians in manual operation.

Gordon & MacPhail is an independent bottler from Elgin whose business began in 1895. In the 1960s, George Urquhart developed the Connoisseurs Choice range to present single malts from different Scottish distilleries in their own right. The range now includes cask-strength releases. For this edition, Gordon & MacPhail bottled Glentauchers whisky from barrel #22605415.
