Special Features:

This Ledaig matured for 28 years in a single refill American hogshead. Distilled at Tobermory Distillery in 1996, the whisky was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail on 4 February 2025 for the Connoisseurs Choice range. Cask No. 88 yielded 223 bottles at 53.4% ABV. The single malt is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Pronounced Ledaig smoke meets a bright fruit character of citrus peel, green apple, pineapple, dried banana, guava and white peach. Gorse blossoms, clover honey and mint complement the fruit, while walnut and black pepper add nutty and spicy accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Lemon and lime peel emerge first, followed by gorse blossoms. Green apple and clover honey give way to fresh mint.
• Palate: Sweet pineapple and citrus peel lead into dried banana. Subtle guava, walnut, white peach and pronounced smoke follow.
• Finish: The full, long finish brings together tropical fruit and black pepper with campfire embers, ending dry.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tobermory Distillery was founded on the Isle of Mull in 1798. It makes two distinct single malt styles: unpeated Tobermory and peated, smoky Ledaig. The distillery uses water from the Gearr Abhainn for both.

Gordon & MacPhail began as a grocery and spirits merchant in Elgin in 1895. John and George Urquhart later expanded its work selecting and maturing whiskies from Scottish distilleries. In 1968, George Urquhart introduced the Connoisseurs Choice range to make matured single malts from different distilleries available under their distillery names. Gordon & MacPhail bottled this Ledaig as an independent bottler.
