This Highland single malt was distilled at Macduff in 2009 and matured for 14 years in First Fill Bourbon Barrel 11898. Gordon & MacPhail bottled the whisky from this single cask on 25 October 2024 at a cask strength of 59.1% for the Connoisseurs Choice range. Limited to 210 bottles, the whisky has its natural colour and was not chill-filtered.

Maturation in the First Fill Bourbon Barrel shapes the whisky's sweetness and fruity character. Lime, honey, vanilla and mandarin lead into creamy white chocolate, pineapple and guava. Tropical fruit lingers on the finish with a hint of black pepper.

Distillery/Bottler:

Macduff Distillery is located on the River Deveron near Banff and began production in 1960. Its five small copper stills and horizontal condensers are designed to produce a light, fruity spirit. At the same time, Macduff is known for a distinctly malty style. The distillery's own single malts are released under the name The Deveron.

Gordon & MacPhail selected cask 11898, in which the Macduff whisky matured, before bottling it independently. George Urquhart developed Connoisseurs Choice in the 1960s to showcase single malts from individual Scottish distilleries; the range now also includes cask-strength releases.
