Special Features:

This Tormore matured for 28 years in a single Refill Sherry Puncheon. Distilled in 1995, the Speyside single malt was bottled in 2024 by Gordon & MacPhail for the Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength series. Cask 5391 yielded 493 bottles at 57.1%. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Fruit, spice and oak define its character. Its aromatic range includes orange peel, raspberries, prunes and fruitcake, alongside dark chocolate, nuts and coffee. Sherry maturation adds dried-fruit notes and spice to the fruit-led whisky without overshadowing its distillery character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, lively orange-peel notes meet clove and cinnamon. Soft fruitcake gives way to sweet raspberry and prune notes.
• Palate: The whisky is smooth and balanced on the palate. Apple, pear and caramel combine with malty sweetness, a light sherry influence and warming spice. Oak accompanies these impressions.
• Finish: The finish is long. Fruit notes and gentle spices linger, while the oak leaves a delicate dryness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1958, Tormore was the first new distillery built in Speyside in the 20th century. Its striking architecture was deliberately conceived as a prestigious ensemble: white buildings with decorative details, a fountain, a curling pond and landscaped grounds define the site.

Tormore produced the whisky; Gordon & MacPhail managed its maturation and bottled it as an independent bottler. For Connoisseurs Choice, cask selection and maturation time are chosen to serve each distillery’s character. George Urquhart developed the range in the 1960s, when blended whisky dominated the market. It also made malts available from distilleries whose whisky had not previously been sold as single malt. In keeping with this approach, this Tormore focuses on whisky from a single Puncheon.
