Special Features:

Révélation Lot.20 showcases a Grande Champagne cognac aged for more than a hundred years. Bache-Gabrielsen released it in 2025 to mark the house’s 120th anniversary. The same old cognac is a component of the anniversary bottling La Coupe; here, it stands alone, without blending with other cognacs. The edition comprises 220 individually numbered bottles worldwide.

Made from Ugni Blanc, this cognac comes from the area around Bouteville. The distillery at the time used two small coal-fired stills with capacities of 300 and 500 litres. After an initial period of cask ageing, the cognac was transferred to oak casks holding 150 and 200 litres.

During the Second World War, the winegrowing family hid the casks behind a false wall in their home. For the anniversary edition, the cognac is presented at 42.1% in a 0.5-litre bottle framed by a wooden arch structure.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: The cognac opens with aromas of gingerbread, cashew nuts and liquorice. Cloves and oak leaves then emerge, before notes of old leather unfold.
  • Palate: On the palate, liquorice returns in the form of liquorice root sticks. Pronounced tobacco and cigar-box notes are enveloped by ripe quince. Sandalwood and cedar then emerge.
  • Finish: Subtle wood tannins linger in the powerful finish. A delicate rancio note rounds it off.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bache-Gabrielsen has roots in Norway and the Charente. Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen arrived in Cognac in 1903 and, together with his compatriot Peter Rustad, acquired the cognac house A. Edmond Dupuy in 1905. Founded in 1852, that house became the basis of the Bache-Gabrielsen family business. Since 2009, Thomas’s great-grandson Hervé has led the house as its fourth generation.

Bache-Gabrielsen operates as a merchant house that ages its own stocks and sources its eaux-de-vie exclusively from winegrowers who distil themselves. Since 1989, cellar master Jean-Philippe Bergier has been responsible for selecting the eaux-de-vie, overseeing their cask ageing and blending the cognacs. The house takes both oak selection and cellar humidity into account. Since 2015, it has had three cellars of its own in Louzac-Saint-André near Cognac: two for storage and one for blending.
