An unusual choice of casks gives this Ben Nevis its Oloroso finish. The Ximénez-Spínola bodega in Jerez made the sherry previously matured in these casks from Pedro Ximénez grapes rather than the customary Palomino grapes. Murray McDavid selected these American oak casks to finish the Highland Single Malt.
Distilled in 2012, the whisky was bottled in 2026 at thirteen years old for the Benchmark autumn release. Casks 2302330 and 2400420 yielded 644 bottles. Bottled at 53.2%, the whisky is non-chill filtered and has no added colouring.

Founded in 1825, Ben Nevis Distillery stands at the foot of its namesake mountain, the highest in Great Britain. It produces the Single Malt selected by Murray McDavid for this edition.
Murray McDavid was founded by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin and Gordon Wright of Springbank Distillery. Since 1994, the independent bottler has explored the maturation of Scotch whisky in different types of cask, becoming particularly known for its use of wine casks. It is now based at Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, where whisky matures in oak casks of various origins. The Benchmark series focuses on Single Malts and the influence of cask maturation on their character.
