Black Bull Kyloe Rum Finish undergoes an additional maturation period in Caribbean rum casks after its earlier ageing. This finish brings tropical sweetness and spice to the Scotch blend. Coconut, tropical fruit, brown sugar and vanilla shape its profile, alongside citrus, mint, nuts and oak. Sweet sugar cane notes also feature in its aroma.

The whisky is bottled at a robust 50% alcohol. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. The bottle holds 0.7 litres.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, toasted coconut and oak mingle with juicy tropical fruit. Vanilla and a delicate icing sugar note round out the aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, biscuity malt and brown sugar sweetness meet candied citrus fruit and crisp apple. The rum cask sweetness continues, with a creamy texture. Over time, the flavour becomes slightly more herbal, and a hint of fresh mint emerges. The candied citrus fruit provides a counterpoint to these herbal notes.
• Finish: Marzipan, toasted nuts, oak, vanilla and sweet pome fruit remain on the finish. Pepper, marmalade and a hint of ginger add to the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Black Bull is backed by independent bottler and whisky merchant Duncan Taylor, based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. The company began in Glasgow in 1938 as a cask broker and trading business. It supplied Scottish distilleries with its own casks to fill with new-make spirit and built up stocks of Single Malt and Single Grain whiskies over the decades.

Cask selection, storage and the creation of blends are central to Duncan Taylor's work. The company has cask warehouses, its own cooperage and a bottling facility in Huntly. These facilities allow it to care for the casks and bottle selected whiskies on site. The Black Bull brand has an earlier history: George Willsher founded it in his Dundee shop in 1864.
