Special Features:

This Clynelish combines ten years of bourbon cask maturation with a pronounced waxy character. The Single Malt matured in a First Fill American Bourbon Hogshead: the former bourbon cask was used to mature Scotch for the first time. Vanilla, coconut and citrus notes complement the waxy and subtly maritime impressions.

The whisky was distilled on 14 March 2016 and bottled on 1 April 2026. Cask 305668/2016 yielded 284 bottles. Brave New Spirits released this single-cask bottling in the Distiller’s Cut range within Cask Masters, retaining its natural cask strength of 55.4%. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. It comes in a 0.7-litre bottle without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Vanilla, coconut and fresh lemon zest open the nose, with delicate beeswax notes gradually emerging. Quince, honeycomb and sea salt complete the aromatic picture.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied on the palate. Quince and honey cake are followed by sea salt and candle wax. Vanilla, coconut and citrus fruit complement the combination of sweetness and freshness.
• Finish: The long finish remains clean, while wax and citrus notes slowly fade yet continue to linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Clynelish stands near Brora on the northern Highland coast. The current distillery was built in 1967 beside its predecessor, founded in 1819 and later renamed Brora. Its water comes from the Clynemilton Burn. Clynelish now belongs to Diageo and is one of Johnnie Walker’s four regional distillery sites. Its waxy, coastal house style also makes the malt an important component in blends.

Brave New Spirits is the independent bottler behind this edition. Individual casks are selected for Cask Masters according to their character and maturation. The Distiller’s Cut sub-range focuses on cask-strength Single Malts and the interplay between spirit and cask. The presentation reflects this approach to selection: inspired by Kirigami, the Japanese art of paper cutting, the labels combine landscape motifs with Scottish whisky tradition.
