Maturation in ex-bourbon casks shapes this twelve-year-old Single Malt from Deanston's core range. Honey, fruit and malt meet gentle spice, accompanied by Deanston's characteristic waxy texture. The bottling expresses the distillery's honey-led, non-smoky Highland style.

Deanston does not chill-filter its whisky, allowing the natural oils to remain. No colouring is added either. The whisky is bottled at 46.3% in a 0.7-litre bottle and supplied in a tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, summer hay and malty cereal combine with creamy toffee and honeyed heather notes. Sweet oak and barley sugar round out the aroma.
• Palate: The whisky feels soft, creamy and sweet on the palate. Hints of fruit accompany malty, honey-led spice and gentle vanilla.
• Finish: The finish feels fresh, with a spicy tingle of cloves that lingers and gradually fades.

Distillery/Bottler:

Deanston was established in 1966 in a former cotton mill on the River Teith. The mill had been founded in 1785; whisky merchant Brodie Hepburn later recognised the potential of its buildings, water supply and existing water power for a distillery. The river still supplies the production water and powers electricity generation. Deanston feeds surplus electricity into the public grid.

The distillery uses only Scottish barley, sourced as locally as possible. It mills the grain itself and checks it by hand. Its working methods include an open mash tun, fermentation times of up to 100 hours and copper pot stills. The distillation cuts are also controlled by hand. The whisky then matures in selected oak casks in the former weaving halls.
