Special Features:

The Altus combines 25-year-old Glenmorangie matured in bourbon casks designed specifically for the distillery with a smaller proportion of whisky of the same age finished in Malmsey Madeira casks. The combination recalls Glenmorangie's Madeira Wood Finish from 1995. Floral notes and ripe fruit sit alongside honey, nuts and toffee.

This Highland single malt is offered at 43% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle with a premium box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings carnation, rose and orange blossom with honey, followed by peach, vanilla, almond and nutty toffee.
• Palate: On the palate, silky notes of mandarin, apple, pear and peach give way to tart gooseberry and yellow plum. Butterscotch sweetness mingles with gentle oak, marzipan, icing sugar and ripe banana.
• Finish: The long finish fades with harmonious, elegant sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler:

William and Anne Matheson founded Glenmorangie in the Scottish Highlands in 1843. The distillery's exceptionally tall stills contribute to its light, fruity spirit.

For The Altus, Dr Bill Lumsden selected specially developed bourbon casks made from slow-grown American white oak, toasted and charred to his specifications. Glenmorangie bottles the whisky as an official distillery release. MacDonald & Muir Limited owns and markets the brand.
