Special Features:

The Oloroso sherry finish is the defining maturation detail of this bottling. Under the Strathdearn name, Murray McDavid releases a single malt from Tomatin Distillery and finishes it in Oloroso sherry hogsheads for the Cask Craft Collection. The whisky is bottled at 44.5% and contains no colouring.

This bottling formed part of the first release from the Cask Craft range, launched in late 2022. Murray McDavid created the series to make the flavour influence of different cask types accessible through Scottish single malts. Batch #SHRY-01 combines the fruity Highland malt with an Oloroso sherry finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Juicy apples and rich malt combine with the delicate sweetness of fine baking spices.
• Palate: Creamy caramel and spiced fruit bread meet dark berries and delicate nuts, while hints of orange round out the multifaceted mouthfeel.
• Finish: The long finish combines pronounced cinnamon with praline and a gentle, sweetly spiced note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tomatin Distillery produced the Highland single malt used for this bottling. Strathdearn is a name used for certain independently bottled Tomatin releases. Murray McDavid handled the finishing and bottled the whisky as an independent bottler.

Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. The bottler established an early reputation for maturation in unusual casks, particularly wine casks. Murray McDavid is now based at Coleburn Distillery in Speyside. There, the team monitors the casks in traditional warehouses and tailors their further maturation to the interplay between spirit and wood.
